I still have traces of the migraine from yesterday so it's another Small Project Day. The project will probably be biscornu for the Biscornu: Design-It-Yourself Exchange at EMS Cross Stitch Forum (sign-up won't open before 16th ). The design I have for it is rather small so after the exchange it will become a complimentary design for Periphaeria Designs. Said design is also the one to blame for my latest S.E.X....

I need Kreinik's Very Fine Braid #4 for it and I don't have it in suitable shades (I have #8 which would be yummy, but it's too thick, I think) so I ordered some. And as you guess I "justified" the postages with some designs I just had to adopt (1., 2., 3., 4., 5.). (And I realized that those fruit pillow designs I have been drooling are part of larger series from Just Cross Stitch and 1-2-3 Stitch! sells them... oh my. I have to buy them some day.)

It was also a good mail day! I had envelopes from Silkweaver and 1-2-3 Stitch! in my mail box!

The fabrics are much more amazing in person, but as I wasn't in the mood for scanning this is the closest it gets today.
These are, of course, findings from Odds & Ends, fabrics for my budget and I like the custom cuts you can get from O&E: this batch has two 9''x27'' pieces (Greekstone and Tropical Breeze, both are on the lower row) which are excellent material for various projects.

The biscornu has landed!

  • May. 8th, 2008 at 1:03 PM

I heard that Barbara has received her monochromatic biscornu, and loved it, so yet another stitchy picture!

Info:

  • Design: Yet another unnamed, unpublished design (I need to figure out how I want to publish it)
  • Designer: Lady Periphaeria of Periphaeria Designs
  • Fabric: 32 count hand-dyed Belfast linen by Silkweaver
  • Floss: Dinky Dyes' 'Turquoise' silk
  • Other: Iridescent blue bead in the middle

The Magical Mojo Rejuvenator™

  • May. 6th, 2008 at 9:45 PM

My stitching mojo has also suffered from my neurotransmitter dysfunction, and I had been thinking few days that I should stitch something small from someone else to get my mojo going... I started this shortly before going to sleep yesterday and had a happy dance about half an hour ago and I can feel my mojo waking up!

Info:

  • Design: Biscornu Chatelin
  • Fabric: 32 count Mushroom Lugana
  • Floss: Vixen Red by Needle Necessities
While finishing this little cutie I realised that I haven't done the goal check for last month yet! Well, it is not only thing I have forgot so...
I happened to claim when these were published that I don't have a stitched model of either one. Guess what I found from my hard drive today?

I model stitched it for Leena and took a picture of it before I sent it... and happily forgot the whole thing!

Good mail day!

  • May. 5th, 2008 at 5:59 PM

I received most gorgeous, sunshiny biscornu from Edda who was my partner in the monochromatic biscornu exchange at FlossMoms' forum!

It couldn't have chosen better day to arrive: I met Mrs. Lemonar$e the employement councellor today and as usual (this was the second time when I met her) she was as poisonous as ever - and to make it even better the sun went to hiding and now it is all dark. *sigh*

But here is some sun to my day!

The design is Papillon Creations' Tiny Little Quaker and I absolutely love it in orange!
Edda also added some nice goodies: piece of Kiwi Illusions' hand-dyed 'Bourbon' Jazlyn and skein of Ozark Sampler's 'Citrus Cooler' hand-dyed floss.

Thank you Edda!

And, I bought a leaflet and a magazine from Cristin's stash sale the other day and they arrived today! I paid only two biscornu designs of mine in exchange (she didn't want to do trades - officially, but as the designs were files they don't take any room *grin* Smart lady ) for both and the postages so it was very cheap shopping for me and I can say that these are well worth the money!

And to make it even better... guess who managed to send the humbugs today? Yes, me! Woohoo!

The Luck of the Irish, times three

  • Mar. 11th, 2008 at 1:55 PM

"Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you

I haven't been at my best, but I have been stitching...

Tidbits:

  • Design: Luck of the Irish - set of three biscornus.
  • Designer: Lady Periphaeria of Periphaeria Designs.
  • Fabric: 36 count flax Belfast linen.
  • Fibers: VC silks and DMC/ Kreinik.
  • Buttons: Vintage metal buttons from my mother's button box.
ETA: The set is available for purchase through PD (just click the image) or one of the retailers. *enabling grin*

Incoming!

  • Mar. 2nd, 2008 at 6:04 PM

Better late than never, right? The biscornu, and the buttons, I received from Alexia:

And, I received belated Valentine's gift from Leena in Friday!

She stitched the ornament on a very familiar fabric... it's one of those 40 count linens I dyed last summer!

Thank you both!

Bits o' Things

  • Feb. 28th, 2008 at 2:29 AM

(I am actually surprised... I noticed yesterday that I can still easily (leisurely) read 125 pages/ hour even though I haven't read actively since... erm... eh... I can't even remember.)

BUT...

I am organizing a biscornu exchange at the FlossMoms forum, so, if you are as addicted to biscorni as I am hop over (register,) and join the fun! (Note that I have the tendency to stitch models as exchange items... *hint hint*)

For Pete's sake!

It's neverending...

I know I should be in bed, but I re-found my online chess addiction and one of my opponents seems to have too much free time (or maybe it is me).

Now, what I have forgot?

  • Feb. 25th, 2008 at 5:32 AM

I think I have forgot to mention that Liz received her biscornu from me quite a while ago:

Information:

  • Design: "Alegría", exclusively complimentary design. Available through One Star's Light Needlework Supplies.
  • Designer: Lady Periphaeria of Periphaeria Designs. (I am getting good at this split personality thing...)
  • Fabric: 28 count sky blue Belfast linen.
  • Fiber: Atalie's Jais.
  • Other:
    1. Stitched two over two.
    2. The button is snatched from my mother's button box (she let me raid it while I was there over holidays).
    3. The theme was blue.
I have also received mine from Alexia (U.S., TX (I see a recurring theme here)), but I need to take a picture of it in decent daylight. Alexia also sent some lovely buttons to me, and some of them have already found their use (when I finish those biscornus).

/me tired... New designs!

  • Feb. 14th, 2008 at 1:10 AM

Also known as: What I have been up to.

Violarium Collection

A new series of stitcher's tools. White/violet is model stitched by Leena so I am only the evil mastermind behind that one.
I stitched the white/red one and enjoyed all those confetti stitches on it tremendously. Maybe I am sick? *grin*

New parts will follow each other every few months - the series is exclusively available through Violarium.

And the six others

And the seventh other....

Periphaeria's birthday is soon!
It was 1st of March, 2007 when Periphaeria Designs' first site went officially live... As much I would loved to invite you all over for coffee and cookies (those chocolate chip cookies are ALL mine! ) it's a logistic impossibility so I came up with another good idea, and this one has zero calories: "Heartfelt".

Available for limited time from the "old place". *grin*

Now... my cookies await me.

Valentine's Exchange has landed!

  • Feb. 11th, 2008 at 9:01 PM

I just heard that Michelle has received her Valentine's Exchange item, and as there's only couple of days until the launch pictures will follow right about... now!

Info:

Design: 'Bumblehearts', will be available 14th of February.
    Designer: Lady Periphaeria, Periphaeria Designs
    Fabric: 30 count black linen
    Floss: As charted
Bead: Generic transparent red heart bead
The picture does not show the colours very well, as it had to be taken in artificial light. Nevertheless I am totally in love with this design, and it was a sheer pleasure to stitch so I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those designs I will stitch several times in future.
I sent some goodies, but didn't take a picture of them - in the end this was the important thing.

Another Happy Dance - and some gorgeous mail!

  • Jan. 13th, 2008 at 12:54 AM

I was kindly enabled by a co-staff member at EMS Cross Stitch Forum and I just had to participate the January Biscornu Exchange (you can't miss a chance to stitch a biscornu, can you?) with a theme of blue.
I am happy to announce that it's now stitched, and will be assembled when I get these bandaids off (within few fays, I think). The design is one of my own and I chose blue linen for it, but that's all I am going to tell before it arrives to its new home.
But, here's a tiny teaser...

Surprise Stash Attack!

Stash fairy surprised me and sent some lovely stashy mail!

Thank you! secret stash fairy!

And the next project...

...is Valentine's Exchange item, which is also a model for the forthcoming launch.
I had to tweak the colours I originally designed for the design, but I am very pleased how it's coming out. I can reveal that it is stitched on black linen with lovely springy colours and it does have hearts to justify becoming the Valentine's Exchange item.

It's actually odd that I have stitched quite much during last few days, noticing that I have spent most of my time sleeping...

Beautiful, isn't it?!
This is my entry for Cross Stitchers' Lottery.

Tidbits:

  • Design: Autumn
  • Designer: Linda Chacewater
  • Fabric: 36 count Summer Khaki Newcastle linen
  • Other: The colour scheme is by me
This gorgeous design is designed by a dear friend, Linda, who has a talent for designing, but is not (yet!) a selling designer, though I am one of those persons who try to encourage her to take the plunge as she surely could give so much to the stitching community with her designs.

Autumn has been real fun to stitch and I am already thinking of different colour schemes for it...
I think I sense another addictive design.

(Cross posted to Cross Stitchers' Lottery blog.)

Withdrawals

  • Jun. 23rd, 2007 at 7:48 PM

I realised today that I haven't done a single biscornu in two months! (This reveals lack of biscornus in my coming release (there's one design which is designed to be one though, but it wanted to be finished in a bit different way).)
(ETA:OOOOPS! Actually I have... ok, I haven't done one in a bit over a month.)

This lead to me thinking that I haven't done one for my mother yet, which is my intention as she has never seen one, which lead me to browse through my design stash which lead me to design few more (and import couple of old ones to my current software's format)... So, it has been day filled with little squares and litres of coffee - though it has been fun.
Now it's time for some stitching and Black Adders, so off I go!

How time flies...

  • May. 4th, 2007 at 7:55 PM

Could you believe that I made my first ever biscornu only one year ago? Neither do I, but I have a proof: this entry.

Old lady...

..got her painkillers (my mother came to rescue again) and will be kept intoxicated whole weekend.
You can say she doesn't feel very good. I haven't been able to do anything today (until now) because she has been clingier than usual (remember that she is a Siamese and they are naturally extremely clingy) and has either slept on my lap or hugged my thigh (I really don't know why she likes my thighs) - with the obvious demand of being petted.

My biscornu has landed!

  • Mar. 14th, 2007 at 7:44 PM

After looking for its new home for two weeks (I think it misread its map) my biscornu has finally arrived at Cari's!
Choice of design was a success as she said that it's her favourite of my currently published designs, so without further ado allow me to introduce you: Cari's biscornu.

Info:

  • Design: The Courtyard of Alhambra
  • Designer: Lady Periphaeria/ Periphaeria Designs
  • Fabric: Elegance, 28 count hand-dyed Belfast linen by Silkweaver.

I also sent her small cut of that linen I stitched her biscornu on and two skeins of my own hand-dyeds.

Biscornu has landed!

  • Mar. 6th, 2007 at 5:00 PM

Admittedly I knew who my partner was in TRN's Biscornu Exchange (one of the joys of moderating an exchange), but still it was as great to find a parcel from Renée waiting me in my letter box.
Firstly, she stitched me a gorgeous biscornu over one (one side if green and represents me, and other side is red for Renée), finished it as a fob and attached it to pair of scissors! (One can never have too many of those.) And... then she sent me some delicious Needle Necessities and little design by Blackbird Designs.

Thank you Renée!

Another exchange...

Leslie sent our partner infos for Mystery Exchange (at TRN) out last night and I have to admit that my plans changed. $NAME seems to have quite many $STITCHY_TOOLs on her wishlist so I decided to go with that and stitch one of my newer designs for her.
I have already found beautiful hand-dyed 32 count Lugana and matching floss from DMC's range... Pictures to follow... in the end of April.

It is called a 'Happy Dance'...

  • Feb. 27th, 2007 at 10:27 AM

...because it makes you happy.
Even this is stitched on yellow (pale yellow, even it may seem more like off white in the picture) I am very pleased with the result. (As I don't usually like yellow that much.)

© Periphaeria Designs

Pieces of information:

Design: Tribe #1 (Possibly continuing series - otherwise it can be interpreted as First Tribe *grin*)
    Designer: myself/ Periphaeria Designs
Fabric: Unknown 32 count hand-dyed yellow Lugana from Silkweaver
Floss: Moonbrand 403 (Avoid this brand if you can! (I have few excess skeins in different colours, anyone interested? *grin*))
I also had different, still stitching related, happy dance yesterday: more about it in Tales from Periphaeria.

And, just to reward myself I foresee some TW stitching in the end of the week - maybe I should try to finish Futurecast?

Happy dancing on roses...

  • Feb. 10th, 2007 at 10:02 PM

I think the word is addiction...

Information:

  • Designer: Yours truly/ Periphaeria Designs
  • Design Ring Of Roses #1
  • Fabric: 28 count Mulberry Cashel Linen
  • Floss: DMC 3689
Roses and hearts, what could be more suitable close to Valentine's day?

Two models, two happy dances

  • Feb. 2nd, 2007 at 10:41 AM

Let me introduce you: Ring o' Roses - Simplified and The Courtyard of Alhambra:

Do we sense a biscornu addiction here?

And now, off to make more coffee and stitch more models as it is Friday! (Note to self about yesterday: Lady, you have a rotation. Live with it...)

Slightly nutty.

Very happy. Moderately odd. Bibliophile, Demoness, geekette, cross stitch designer (part-time), common-law wife surfing in an intercultural, -religious, -ethnic etc. relationship, retail slave (full-time), HSP etc.

An Angel.
