Should I make them fluffy too?

For some reason I have this odd urge to stitch pink version of Ia! Ia!. Maybe lady just needs some pink tentacle monsters into her life every once in a while...
Coming to think of it I have one skein of pink VC silk (which I got from Dawn) in my personal stash and it might look interesting on that blood red 40 count Newcastle I acquired from Silkweaver over a year ago...

I finally found the ornament design for my mother... as you may know she loves joulupukki and joulutontut (Santa (the Yule Goat) and his little elves (actually yule gnomes)) and I have always some difficulties to find suitable designs for her (she loves the Finnish Santa (The Real Thing) and most Santa designs out there are way too American to her, or my, taste), but UniversBroderie solved everything: très joli, ne?

I'm going to stitch this over one, to make it small enough to be an ornament, on Graziano's 28 count Riviera with burgundy stripes, because that fabric came directly to my mind when I saw the design.

Speaking of things to stitch...

My Wentzlers came in Monday. ^^
Therefore I also have to make a drooling list list of designs which are absolutely in my to-do list:

1. Woodland Fairie
As usual with TWs the model pictures I have seen in the internet don't do justice to this piece. Very detailed piece with beautiful colours.
2. The Storyteller
I didn't "get" this design before late and what I fell in love with this design is the thought of harmonious life between dragons and humans... the peace, learning from each other. Or at least hope of it.
3. Castle Sampler:
I have always been fascinated by the court life of certain eras and this design falls into that area in my odd fascinations.
(Oh, the times when men wore tights... )
4. Stroke of Midnight:
I have never been much of a princess fan nor I like to stitch humans, but this design is the exception which makes the rule: the way TW presents the light within the ballroom and the details of her gown are simply stunning.
5. The Castle:
When I first saw this I wasn't fond of this at all, but since I followed Ternezia's process this grew in me - and after I saw all the colour conversions made for this design I was in love. (This one is to die for!)
It may look like the dragon were attacking, but what if the dragon is protecting the castle?
6. The Guardian:
When I first saw this I knew that I have to have this some day, for several reasons. One of them is the colour scheme of the dragon, as, even though I am not fond of yellow, the colours are really made for this dragon and the warmth of yellow brings balance to the design's otherwise rather cold scheme.
Another reason is that when I was at school our teacher read us a book which was located in Cornwall and the scenery I imagined looked exactly like this.
7. The Enchanter:
This was a real jaw dropper when I first opened the The Best of Teresa Wentzler Fantasy Collection II.
I have never been into wizards, but once again TW's style makes the theme attractive. I love the colours and details in this design: the velvety look of his robe, the silky look of his cloak, that little dragon on top of the little tree...
There were several could-dos which I left unmentioned, and maybe they will some day become must-dos as sometimes designs grow in slowly.
In general, I wouldn't stitch ANY of these designs on white as the models have been stitched. The white background "bleaches" these gorgeous designs, takes the life out of them.

Oooh, pretty!
I think that I have to join HAED's 'Birthday Club' because my wishlist over there is about a mile long...

Latest The Gift of Stitching

Did you see the Maryland Roses Ultimate Needlebook?! That thing went to my to-do list right away (even though I am opposed of having to purchase the finishing instructions, but then, who says I can't whip it out of my own head?)!
Though, I like the back much better than the front, but, then again, who says that I can't stitch the back twice..?

Life at my place

I'm having a day off tomorrow and cats are already enjoying from the fact of having their slave owner servant at home...

Things to-do ~yesterday

  • Aug. 14th, 2007 at 8:01 AM

In (more or less) respective order:
  1. Stitch Bunny Baby
  2. Stitch Autumn dragon.
  3. Stitch two models.
  4. Stitch two gifts, sew one.
  5. Stitch and finish Halloween Exchange.
  6. Stitch and finish Linda's bourse.
  7. Stitch a replacement for Angi.
  8. Finish those two badly belated gifts.
  9. Stitch and finish a piece for Cross Stitch Lottery.
  10. Work on PIFs in between of everything.
Health

By the way, my lungs are where they are supposed to be and they look clean which means that there are no odd inflammations, growths or anything to worry about. Next step is to follow my air flow at home: first one week without medication and then one week without and with medication - I just need to remember to make an appointment with a local "asthma nurse"...

And the kitty...

Good morning world

Gah, never read stitching blogs, they have enabling effect on you.
Since HAED had 24 hour freebie (Dragon Soul QS (by [info]selinafenech)) I've itched to stitch it as soon as I get some room to my rotation (though Ezzy goes in it first) and now I saw WIP of it in Arthemise's blog.

Repeat after me: That is one beautiful piece! (Have you noticed that I love Comino's emoticons?)

That will also mean one thing: I'll have two big(gish) over one projects in my rotation soon.

In other news

I seem to need my queen size blanket (just call me Linus (that makes you wonder why Linus Torvalds' parents decided to call him Linus...)) to be able to get to bed early. Yesterday I finally decided that it's getting too cold to sleep with any other blanket, put it in blanket cover and threw it on my bed. In the evening I hit the sack at 21:00 (9 pm to twelve hour clockers) and woke up today at 7. And I wasn't even that tired when I went to bed.
So, big, scary /me needs her security blanket... and excessive amounts of warmth (says one who slept under even thicker queen size blanket when she was in Bangkok).

And now big, scary $BLOGGER needs her morning coffee.

Take me to the funny farm

  • Oct. 6th, 2006 at 2:05 PM

When I was getting to bed yesterday I had this image in my head (I was thinking of Halloween, cats and my Meran) and I had to get up just to draw it, in case I'd forget it during night. And today I've been trying to make it as a cross stitch pattern.
Though sample uses plain DMC I see it stitched with overdyeds (maybe GASTs). I think I may give you a preview, after I've got further than just to its head. But I kind of like it, it looks cheeky, even the style is something I used to dislike...

And yesterday, while I was looking for something from my freebie stash I stumbled upon Magic Happens by Mosey 'n Me and I think it wants to be in my to-do list.
Frightening in this is that I used to dislike whimsical before I broadened my stitching horizon in March... Now Casa de Ezzy is (mostly) kitted, I draw whimsical and seem to gorge designs in that genre.

Ah well, maybe it'll pass.

Btw, I also have this idea for a game board, but I need to find few good pictures of pumpkins... Do we hear creativity flowing?

Here be more dragons...

Note to self: never browse trough stitchy galleries as it causes new 2-dos.

This time You're Never Too Old (Addicted to Dragon Dreams? Who? Me?! O_o) with different colour scheme... I was thinking of pink teddy bear, the dragon might do good in shades of dark grey with crimson ridges(?) - contrast between Gothic dragon and pink teddy would do the trick, /me thinks.
And btw, click here for little trick or treating.

Dragon Dreams Addicts Anonymous anywhere?

Stitchy ramblings

  • Sep. 27th, 2006 at 2:18 AM

For some reason I think that one of my 2-dos in near future is Loy Krathong.

I've had my eyes on it since I bought it in one of my trips to Kinokuniya and lately I've been thinking what would be suitable fabric for it.

It's just too inviting, too much of a dream scene not to stitch it, but it also needs The Perfect Fabric to be stitched on (something hand-dyed, I'd say). Blue or violet, maybe purple with blue accents.

Edited-To-Add; Great Scissor Giveaway

I won! (Ok, I wasn't the only one, but I won!) These beauties are coming to live with me, thanks for Jenna's overwhelming generosity!

I am not worthy!

"Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale."
Hans Christian Andersen

Lately I've spent my nights at airports. And as we know travel dreams indicate to changes in life.
It makes me feel good, though I dread changes, but they also bear opportunities.

And I am curious.

2-dos

I participated on Freebie Hunt at latest Cross Stitch Expo and got couple of new 2-dos:

  1. Ready for Carnival
    and
  2. Philosopher in Meditation
And as I've been productive I also managed to fail counting stitches in my CCLE item correctly, and as I'm lazy meanie (and I had little bit of fabric I used left) I just ditched the faulty one and started it all over again - with less dramatic changes ( I think it was a sign or something... ).

Some more tea and back to stitching. Ta-ta.

Aww! Freebies! ^^

  • May. 10th, 2006 at 12:25 AM

I should be sleeping (I know I'll wake up around 7- 8 am... I've such a habit nowadays) and not browsing around, as I've a migraine (not very bad one, just that slashing pain time to time, but migraine anyway), but ah, I found new 2-dos!

I'd say Kawaii! ^^ for last two. (Designer in question has quite a few good ones. Anyone guesses who downloaded most of them..?)

In other news I've even done some stitching... I was eight weeks behind in MSAL, but now only 3½ weeks! Am I good or what?

Stitching goals for January

  • Jan. 6th, 2006 at 12:01 PM

I have finally got the idea of goals. \o/
Anyway, my list looks like this:

  • Finish Valentine Exchange item!
  • Send SEBE and SECE items!
  • Stitch first part of the Silhouettes (Apparently Icy Blue).
  • Finish Winter topiary.
  • Stitch 5th part of Best Friends.
No hurry.... very realistic...

In fact I may be able to do that.

Addition to 2-do list.

  • Dec. 6th, 2005 at 11:06 PM

I know what I will do for my mom as a house warming gift. (She haven't got house warmings yet even she bought her house over a year ago, so I can give it as such. )
She likes gnomes so I'll make a "Welcome" sign for her. Gnome in question is a freebie from Vermillion Stitchery and looks like this:

I think that this one asks for natural linen, and if I'm lucky I'll get fabrics for this when I get my Silkweaver order, as I ordered few odd pieces of natural linen.

...but for some reason I can't help having a feeling from that gnome... It's like some alien: Greetings earththing.

(In case it's hiding, click this.)

2-do

  • Dec. 1st, 2005 at 11:05 AM

To-dos before Yule:

  • Ornaments for my parents
  • 'Devil Bear' finish
  • 'Winter Topiary' finish
And I also need to think what to take with me when I go to my mother's place as I'm not sure do I want to take my computer with me and that limits me quite much in stitching wise, as poor me doesn't have a printer.

Of course I could take free kits I've stored to wait for better/ duller day and make them. In fact I've been thinking that some of those kits would do great SOLAK squares (I just need to bigger pieces of fabric to make them on).

Oh my... I've one card I should send. Got to remember that when I go to "town" next time.

Official 2-do list.

I finally spent minute to explore on LJ's 2-do list attribute and made mine. It's available in my blog's sidebar.

Topiary dance.

  • Oct. 21st, 2005 at 10:19 AM

And it is officially finished!

I'd have finished it yesterday, but I've had indescribable menstruation pains and I haven't been able to sit or stand very long times. Anyway, now it's finished and I'm pleased.

Plans.

I think that now my next project heading to happy dance is my sis' apron. HK is almost ready anyway, so there's not that much white to do... Has anyone noticed that I'm not very fond of white?

But anyway I've been thinking about Passione Ricamo's 'Seasonal Postcards'. If I do them I either do them separately or change their layout from horizontal to vertical. I think it'd look better vertically (from spring to winter) than it looks horizontally

Slightly nutty.

Very happy. Moderately odd. Bibliophile, Demoness, geekette, cross stitch designer (part-time), common-law wife surfing in an intercultural, -religious, -ethnic etc. relationship, retail slave (full-time), HSP etc.
